The funding application process, step by step
Knowing what happens after you enquire takes the mystery out of a window funding application. There is no lengthy form-filling and no commitment along the way — just a clear sequence from first enquiry to fitted windows. Here is exactly what to expect at each stage.
Step 1 — Your eligibility check
It starts with a short online check. You provide your postcode and confirm whether you own your home; that is enough for us to see whether it is worth going further. It takes about 60 seconds, and submitting it does not commit you to anything. If it looks promising, we pass your enquiry to a matched installer who can help in your area.
Step 2 — A quick call
Next, someone will call to talk through your enquiry. This is a conversation, not a sales pitch: they will check a few details, answer your early questions and, if you are happy to continue, arrange a convenient time for a free home survey. If the timing is not right, you can simply say so. We explain how we handle your details, and what contact to expect, in our privacy policy.
Step 3 — The free home survey
A surveyor visits to measure up and assess your windows properly. They look at the condition of your existing frames, the style and material that would suit your home, and any complications such as damaged sills or difficult access. The survey is free and no-obligation, and it is what allows an accurate quote to be prepared — no honest figure is possible without it.

The eligibility check takes about a minute, is free, and puts you under no obligation.

After the survey you receive a clear, written quote. It sets out the work, the specification and any funding and contribution options, subject to eligibility and a home survey. Take your time with it. This is the moment to compare the price and specification against other fitters — comparing window quotes is always worthwhile — and to ask about anything you do not understand. There is no pressure to decide on the spot.
Step 5 — Installation
If you decide to go ahead, a fitting date is booked. Accredited installers remove your old windows, fit the new units, make good around the frames and clear away afterwards, leaving your home tidy. Because good windows are built to last for decades, it is reassuring to understand how long modern windows last as you plan the work. On the logistics side, installers have survey appointments in many postcode areas this month, so it is worth checking availability early.
What you never have to do
Throughout the process, you are never obliged to proceed, never charged for the survey, and never asked for payment before you have a written quote in front of you. You can pause or stop at any stage. If you would like the bigger picture first, our mini-hub on how window funding works explains the whole approach, and window funding eligibility covers who typically qualifies before you begin.
